Year 1 (2008-2009)

  • Establish the project infrastructure
  • Finalize online survey content, administration processes, and respondent incentives
  • Develop reporting systems to participating institutions.
  • Obtain funds to fully implement SNAAP
  • Develop public relations and promotion material
  • Develop SNAAP Web site
  • Develop and begin to implement marketing plan
  • Obtain necessary institutional review board approvals to conduct SNAAP

  • Work with schools to identify alumni and obtain contact information
  • Field test the SNAAP survey with about 40 institutions representing a range of all types of arts institution markets, demographics, geography, and arts disciplines

Year 2 (2009-2010)

  • Conduct second field test with 54 institutions to further resolve survey administration issues
  • Provide reports to participating institutions
  • Development of corresponding report support materials

Year 3 (2010-2011)

  • Recruit at least 60 fee-paying schools for first national administration of SNAAP survey
  • Establish billing cycle to collect institutional participation fees
  • Conduct regular annual activities re convening advisory groups, psychometric analyses, reports to schools, etc.
  • Work with media to generate interest in SNAAP and related topics
  • Host national convening of arts and education leaders to discuss preliminary findings from SNAAP and related issues of artistic training and cultural policy at Curb Center
  • Prepare major national report, Training and Preparing Artists and Creative Workers in the 21st Century
  • Prepare and release second annual report based on preliminary SNAAP findings, testimonials, and relevant information for prospective schools about how they can use the data
  • Continue to improve survey operations and related services

Year 4 (2011-2012)

  • Recruit at least 78 fee-paying schools for second national administration of SNAAP survey
  • Conduct regular annual survey and reporting cycle activities
  • Conduct regular annual activities: reconvening advisory groups, psychometric analyses, reports to schools, etc.
  • Release of Training and Preparing Artists and Creative Workers in the 21st Century and dissemination of report on-line, through a published monograph and through presentations throughout the country
  • Produce another SNAAP annual report that describes the project, summarizes key findings, and offers testimonials national report for field-wide dissemination
  • Continue to improve survey operations and related services

Year 5 (2012-2013)

  • Recruit at least 105 fee-paying schools for third national administration of SNAAP survey
  • Continue regular annual survey and reporting cycle activities
  • Conduct regular annual activities: convening advisory groups, psychometric analyses, reports to schools, etc.
  • Produce another SNAAP annual report that describes the project, summarizes key findings, and offers testimonials national report for field-wide dissemination
  • Continue to improve survey operations and related services

At the end of year five, results from the combined total of 330+ participating schools will have produced valuable information for the field and for participating institutions.  The impact on educational institutions will further be enhanced as the result of the high quality technical assistance provided to schools, colleges and universities. Through this help, participating institutions will have increased capacities to use their data productively to improve their programs, faculty and support services to better meet the needs of their students.
